Here’s some insight into what Casey Ashely is fishing in the Bassmaster Classic

Here’s a closer look at the spot Casey Ashley was fishing this morning. On the upper right is the highly detailed, free Insight Genesis Social Map chart of the spot.

In the bottom left, is the Insight Genesis Bottom-Hardness layer map of the spot — the dark orange/brown areas show the hardest-bottom areas in the spot, as the other colors lighten, they show areas of decreasing bottom hardness. Savvy bass anglers use Insight Genesis maps to target bass that group up on the transitions between harder- and softer-bottom areas.

Insight Genesis maps giving Lowrance pros a competitive edge in 2015 Bassmaster Classic

When the 2015 Bassmaster Classic launched on Lake Hartwell on Friday, Lowrance Pro Team anglers had a competitive edge – Insight Genesis contour maps.

“You may be surprised at how much detail you may be missing out on” if you’re not using Insight Genesis maps, says 2014 Bassmaster Classic Champion Randy Howell.

2009 Bassmaster Classic Champ Skeet Reese agrees.

“The mapping that you know and use today, really isn’t that accurate,” he says. “Insight Genesis allows you to really, truly see those sweet spots, within a sweet spot, within a sweet spot.”

Heading into championship Sunday of the Bassmaster Classic, Howell was in 4th place, behind fellow Lowrance pros Takahiro Omori, Dean Rojas and Mike Iaconelli, in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Skeet was sitting at 10th place in the 55-angler field. Of the top 10 anglers after two of three days of competition, eight are Lowrance pros who have Insight Genesis maps of Lake Hartwell.

An innovative, GoFree Cloud-powered service, Insight Genesis enables anglers to create custom contour maps of un-mapped bodies of water, improve contour detail on previously mapped waters, and precisely dissect spot-on-the-spot areas on fish-holding bottom structure. Insight Genesis maps are exclusive to Lowrance, Simrad and B&G chartplotters.  All Lowrance Pro Team anglers competing in the 2015 Bassmaster Classic were provided an SD card loaded with an Insight Genesis map of Lake Hartwell.

Whether your favorite fishery is a 300-acre pond or a 30,000-acre reservoir, Insight Genesis mapping is a game-changer. No other maps are better at helping you find and fish the “sweet spots” that don’t appear on many other chart chips and map apps – spots like shell beds, hard-to-soft-bottom transitions, and off-shore humps and ledges. “Insight Genesis mapping is helping us find those locations and record those locations and allow you to be a lot more efficient on the water,” Skeet explains.

The one-foot contour lines on Insight Genesis maps are much more accurate than the estimated contour lines on many chart chips and map apps, which can obscure fish-holding bottom structure of interest to anglers.

“Looking at the contour lines, the detail, right away lets me know that I’m going to look for certain things that may work,” Howell explains.

That makes Insight Genesis a huge time-saver for anglers — be they Bassmaster Classic Champs like Howell and Skeet, or weekend warriors who fish for fun and braggin’ rights. (Article continues below video player)

Insight Genesis map detail is “unbelievable,” says 2015 Bassmaster Classic contender David Walker

2015_Classic-Walker-COLLAGEThe level of detail in free Insight Genesis Social Map contour charts is “unbelievable,” says 2015 Bassmaster Classic Contender David Walker.

“With those one-foot contours, I can see where those little changes are without having to go back and forth and fish over them and over them – the map already shows me where I need to start looking,” Walker explains. “It just makes it so much easier. Instead of in three days of practice, me trying to cover maybe a third of the lake, now I can cover all of the lake because I already have the legwork done for me. I can go right to those spots and check them out and look for fish there and eliminate areas or find Classic-winning spots.”

Watch the video below to hear Walker explain how Insight Genesis maps can help anglers at any level — be it the Bassmaster Classic or a day trip on your favorite local lake or pond. (Blog article continues below the video player)

The same Insight Genesis contour chart of Lake Hartwell provided to Walker and all the Lowrance Pro Team members fishing in the 2015 Bassmaster Classic is available to the public for FREE from Insight Genesis Social Map, which also generated the map. Take a look at that map for free, HERE (navigate and zoom in until you land on Lake Hartwell). The Bassmaster Classic launched this morning.
