Can you guess how many trips went into making this extremely detailed Insight Genesis map! Each red line represents a path taken across the lake.

Bruce Carlson and friends uploaded 224 individual trips on Minnesota’s Ten Mile Lake (Cass County) over two springs and summers (2013-2014) to create a custom contour map. You don’t have to make that many individual trips to create a comprehensive custom contour map of your favorite lake,  but if you do, the level of detail you can achieve is practically mind-boggling. Insight Genesis bottom-hardness, vegetation, map layers help Skeet, Edwin, find fish fast

Skeet-Cross-CollageIn the videos below, Skeet Reese and Edwin Evers show off the game-changing Insight Genesis bottom-hardness and vegetation map layers. These innovative fish-finding tools, Skeeet says, are “totally different than anything we’ve seen before.”

With its bottom-hardness and vegetation map layers, Insight Genesis is “giving us a lot more tools to break down a lake” faster, Skeet says. “It’s pretty cool,” he says. “Insight Genesis is allowing us to be a lot more efficient on the water.”

Edwin agrees.

“It’s going to be so helpful today, to be able to break this lake down in a hurry,” he says. “It’s going to be a big, big, huge help. I think it’s going to be a big factor today. … It will really help me formulate a game plan.”

Skeet and Edwin’s observations came prior to launching on Louisiana’s Cross Lake in the second sudden-death round of Major League Fishing’s 2015 Shell Rotella Challenge Cup. All boats in MLF competition are outfitted with Lowrance HDS Gen2 GPS/sonar units loaded with Insight Genesis or Lake Insight HD contour maps. Lake Insight and Insight Genesis maps are exclusive to Lowrance, Simrad and B&G sonar/GPS units.

Gamecocks win FLW College Bass Fishing Nat’l Championship

IMG_8122COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina team of Patrick Walters of Summerville, South Carolina, and Gettys Brannon of Columbia, South Carolina, brought a five-bass limit to the scale Saturday weighing 17 pounds, 1 ounce to win the 2015 FLW College Fishing National Championship on Lake Murray presented by the Lowrance Insight Genesis College Cup. The Gamecock duo beat out 44 teams in front of their hometown crowd to win the top award of a new Ranger Z117 with a 90-horsepower outboard and entry into the 2015 Forrest Wood Cup, the world championship of bass fishing.
