Not all brush piles are created equal, says FLW College Fishing Southeastern Conference tournament champion Isaac Nesbitt. Neither are the humps and points they’re sunk on. By mapping those areas with Insight Genesis, he discovered subtle sweet spots that produced the winning fish for him and his Clemson University teammate Ross Burns May 30th on Georgia’s Lake Hartwell.
To help anglers catch more and bigger fish in the 2015 Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops, Lowrance has used its Insight Genesis custom lake-mapping service to create the most detailed map ever seen of the tournament venue, Wisconsin’s Lake Du Bay.
Insight Genesis is the innovative mapping tool that helps anglers find fish faster in several ways: offering them free downloads of community-sourced contour charts from Insight Genesis Social Map; enabling them to create their own custom contour maps of un-mapped bodies of water; and helping them discover and dissect potential tournament-winning “sweet spots” that don’t show up on other marine maps. Insight Genesis maps are exclusive to Lowrance, Simrad and B&G chart plotters. Continue reading “Lowrance mapping a path to victory for Bassmaster College Series National Championship”→
In the video below, Lowrance Pro Skeet Reese shows off C-MAP’s game-changing Genesis Edge bottom-hardness and vegetation map layers. These innovative fish-finding tools, he says, are “totally different than anything we’ve seen before.”
With its bottom-hardness and vegetation map layers, C-MAP Genesis (formerly called “Insight Genesis”) is “giving us a lot more tools to break down a lake” faster, says Skeet, a former Bassmaster Classic Champion and current Major League Fishing competitor. “It’s pretty cool. [It’s] allowing us to be a lot more efficient on the water.”
Skeet’s observations came prior to launching on Louisiana’s Cross Lake in a sudden-death round of a Major League Fishing Challenge Cup competition. All boats in MLF Challenge Cup events are outfitted with Lowrance GPS/sonar units loaded with C-MAP contour charts. Select C-MAP charts are exclusive to Lowrance, Simrad and B&G sonar/GPS units.
Thursday, April 15, 2015 – If the team that wins the FLW College Fishing National Championship this week maps its winning spot with Insight Genesis, it will walk off the weigh-in stage with more hardware than just the tournament trophy – it will also win a Lowrance HDS-12 Gen-2 Touch sonar/GPS fish-finder.
That’s the prize in GoFREE’s new Map & Win! contingency-award program for contestants in the Insight Genesis College Cup. GoFREE is the newest brand from Navico, parent company of Lowrance, Simrad and B&G. Insight Genesis is GoFree’s revolutionary custom mapping program exclusive to Lowrance, Simrad and B&G sonar/GPS units. College Cup is a year-long contest in which FLW and B.A.S.S. collegiate anglers can win thousands of dollars’ worth of Lowrance HDS Gen-2 Touch units by logging sonar data used to create custom fishing charts with one-foot contours, a vegetation-map layer and a bottom-hardness map. To claim the prize, a College Cup-registered angler must win an FLW or B.A.S.S. college fishing tournament after mapping 100 acres or more of the tournament waters with Insight Genesis.
“Mapping your spots while graphing them in practice already pays off for College Cup anglers, in terms of locating humps and holes, ditches and drains, submerged vegetation and hard-bottom sweet spots that other fishing maps just don’t show,” says GoFREE’s Greg Huff, a custom-mapping expert. “The Map & Win! contingency program creates yet another pay-off for mapping your own success – an HDS-12 Gen2 Touch unit!” Continue reading “GoFREE launches Map& Win! program at FLW College Championship”→
When the 2015 Bassmaster Classic launched on Lake Hartwell on Friday, Lowrance Pro Team anglers had a competitive edge – Insight Genesis contour maps.
“You may be surprised at how much detail you may be missing out on” if you’re not using Insight Genesis maps, says 2014 Bassmaster Classic Champion Randy Howell.
2009 Bassmaster Classic Champ Skeet Reese agrees.
“The mapping that you know and use today, really isn’t that accurate,” he says. “Insight Genesis allows you to really, truly see those sweet spots, within a sweet spot, within a sweet spot.”
Heading into championship Sunday of the Bassmaster Classic, Howell was in 4th place, behind fellow Lowrance pros Takahiro Omori, Dean Rojas and Mike Iaconelli, in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Skeet was sitting at 10th place in the 55-angler field. Of the top 10 anglers after two of three days of competition, eight are Lowrance pros who have Insight Genesis maps of Lake Hartwell.
An innovative, GoFree Cloud-powered service, Insight Genesis enables anglers to create custom contour maps of un-mapped bodies of water, improve contour detail on previously mapped waters, and precisely dissect spot-on-the-spot areas on fish-holding bottom structure. Insight Genesis maps are exclusive to Lowrance, Simrad and B&G chartplotters. All Lowrance Pro Team anglers competing in the 2015 Bassmaster Classic were provided an SD card loaded with an Insight Genesis map of Lake Hartwell.
Whether your favorite fishery is a 300-acre pond or a 30,000-acre reservoir, Insight Genesis mapping is a game-changer. No other maps are better at helping you find and fish the “sweet spots” that don’t appear on many other chart chips and map apps – spots like shell beds, hard-to-soft-bottom transitions, and off-shore humps and ledges. “Insight Genesis mapping is helping us find those locations and record those locations and allow you to be a lot more efficient on the water,” Skeet explains.
The one-foot contour lines on Insight Genesis maps are much more accurate than the estimated contour lines on many chart chips and map apps, which can obscure fish-holding bottom structure of interest to anglers.
“Looking at the contour lines, the detail, right away lets me know that I’m going to look for certain things that may work,” Howell explains.
That makes Insight Genesis a huge time-saver for anglers — be they Bassmaster Classic Champs like Howell and Skeet, or weekend warriors who fish for fun and braggin’ rights. (Article continues below video player)
Not all bottom structure is “created equal,” says 2013 Bassmaster Classic Champion Cliff Pace. Schools of bass feed where they do for a reason. So one key to winning big tournaments is eliminating dead water and making every cast count fishing on the right structure.
“Typically, anything that’s different on the bottom has got potential,” says Pace, the 2013 Bassmaster Classic Champion. “Unique features” on bottom structure, he says, “are really what people consider to be the sweet spots.”
Pace has an innovative tool in his arsenal to find such sweet spots – Insight Genesis mapping.
All Lowrance Pro Team anglers competing in the 2015 Bassmaster Classic were provided an SD card loaded with an Insight Genesis contour map of Lake Hartwell, where Pace finished runner-up in the 2008 Classic. The winner of that Classic, Alton Jones, explained in TV coverage of the event that he caught some of his best fish on a “very specific” sweet spot where “clay turns to sand … right down the center of [a] ditch.”
The ability to locate a sweet spot like that is what makes Insight Genesis so valuable to tournament fishermen and recreational anglers alike.
