New C-MAP Genesis Lake Martin map will give anglers advantage in Bassmaster Elite tournament

Bass pros from across the U.S. will have an opportunity test drive a prototype of a new C-MAP Genesis 1-foot contour map of Lake Martin in a Bassmaster Elite Series tournament Feb. 8-11 on the 41,00-acre Alabama fishery known for hard-fighting, deep-dwelling spotted bass and big, but elusive, shallow-dwelling largemouth. C-MAP, a leader in digital marine mapping and cloud-based mapping, is in the midst of updating its chart portfolio in Alabama and throughout the U.S.

The prototype Lake Martin map, to be eventually included in a new C-MAP card for the entire state of Alabama, includes all the game-changing features that subscribers to C-MAP’s Genesis Edge premium custom-mapping service currently enjoy — 1-foot contours,  Custom Color Depth Shading* and a bottom-hardness layer.

“Having the best map is a critical factor in fishing today,” says C-MAP US Sales Manager Candler McCollum, a competitive angler who, with his tournament partner, won two Alabama Bass Trail tournaments in 2017 and ABT Angler of the Year honors. “This new C-MAP chart provides the most accurate and high-definition contour data ever seen for Lake Martin.” Continue reading

Insight Genesis mapping helps college anglers win big on Hartwell

Not all brush piles are created equal, says FLW College Fishing Southeastern Conference tournament champion Isaac Nesbitt. Neither are the humps and points they’re sunk on. By mapping those areas with Insight Genesis, he discovered subtle sweet spots that produced the winning fish for him and his Clemson University teammate Ross Burns May 30th on Georgia’s Lake Hartwell.

“One of those places we mapped in practice with Insight Genesis put three extra fish in the boat — one of them our biggest of the day,” says Nesbitt, whose win on Hartwell earned him and his teammate the first Map & Win! contingency prize awarded in Lowrance’s Insight Genesis College Cup program. Lowrance mapping a path to victory for Bassmaster College Series National Championship

DuBay-Collage-for-BlogTo help anglers catch more and bigger fish in the 2015 Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops, Lowrance has used its Insight Genesis custom lake-mapping service to create the most detailed map ever seen of the tournament venue, Wisconsin’s Lake Du Bay.

Insight Genesis is the innovative mapping tool that helps anglers find fish faster in several ways: offering them free downloads of community-sourced contour charts from Insight Genesis Social Map; enabling them to create their own custom contour maps of un-mapped bodies of water; and helping them discover and dissect potential tournament-winning “sweet spots” that don’t show up on other marine maps. Insight Genesis maps are exclusive to Lowrance, Simrad and B&G chart plotters. Continue reading

Insight Genesis bottom-hardness, vegetation, map layers help Skeet, Edwin, find fish fast

Skeet-Cross-CollageIn the videos below, Skeet Reese and Edwin Evers show off the game-changing Insight Genesis bottom-hardness and vegetation map layers. These innovative fish-finding tools, Skeeet says, are “totally different than anything we’ve seen before.”

With its bottom-hardness and vegetation map layers, Insight Genesis is “giving us a lot more tools to break down a lake” faster, Skeet says. “It’s pretty cool,” he says. “Insight Genesis is allowing us to be a lot more efficient on the water.”

Edwin agrees.

“It’s going to be so helpful today, to be able to break this lake down in a hurry,” he says. “It’s going to be a big, big, huge help. I think it’s going to be a big factor today. … It will really help me formulate a game plan.”

Skeet and Edwin’s observations came prior to launching on Louisiana’s Cross Lake in the second sudden-death round of Major League Fishing’s 2015 Shell Rotella Challenge Cup. All boats in MLF competition are outfitted with Lowrance HDS Gen2 GPS/sonar units loaded with Insight Genesis or Lake Insight HD contour maps. Lake Insight and Insight Genesis maps are exclusive to Lowrance, Simrad and B&G sonar/GPS units.

GoFREE launches Map& Win! program at FLW College Championship

FLW-College-Natl-Champ-Registration-COLLAGEThursday, April 15, 2015 – If the team that wins the FLW College Fishing National Championship this week maps its winning spot with Insight Genesis, it will walk off the weigh-in stage with more hardware than just the tournament trophy – it will also win a Lowrance HDS-12 Gen-2 Touch sonar/GPS fish-finder.

That’s the prize in GoFREE’s new Map & Win! contingency-award program for contestants in the Insight Genesis College Cup. GoFREE is the newest brand from Navico, parent company of Lowrance, Simrad and B&G. Insight Genesis is GoFree’s revolutionary custom mapping program exclusive to Lowrance, Simrad and B&G sonar/GPS units. College Cup is a year-long contest in which FLW and B.A.S.S. collegiate anglers can win thousands of dollars’ worth of Lowrance HDS Gen-2 Touch units by logging sonar data used to create custom fishing charts with one-foot contours, a vegetation-map layer and a bottom-hardness map. To claim the prize, a College Cup-registered angler must win an FLW or B.A.S.S. college fishing tournament after mapping 100 acres or more of the tournament waters with Insight Genesis.

“Mapping your spots while graphing them in practice already pays off for College Cup anglers, in terms of locating humps and holes, ditches and drains, submerged vegetation and hard-bottom sweet spots that other fishing maps just don’t show,” says GoFREE’s Greg Huff, a custom-mapping expert. “The Map & Win! contingency program creates yet another pay-off for mapping your own success – an HDS-12 Gen2 Touch unit!” Continue reading

Insight Genesis maps almost make it too easy to find fish-holding bottom structure, McClelland says

Insight Genesis maps are making it “so much easier” to find fish-holding bottom structure, says Lowrance pro Mike McClelland, a contender in the 2015 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro. And that makes it easier to catch more and bigger fish.

Insight Genesis maps are also great at showing the kind of bottom “irregularities” that attract bass, McClelland says.

McClelland-Facebook-CollageWhen he launched this morning on the final day of the Bassmaster Classic, McClelland was in 15th place — 5 pounds and 5 ounces behind the leader, fellow Lowrance pro Takahiro Omori. Of the top 10 anglers after two of three days of competition, eight are Lowrance pros. All Lowrance pros competing in the 2015 Bassmaster Classic were provided an SD card loaded with an Insight Genesis contour map of Lake Hartwell.
